Blasting South

We have been fortunate in many ways.  One of those is in the friends we meet.
While visiting West Palm Beach earlier this year we met another cruising family.  Fortunately they live in Bar Harbor and invited us to take over their home with laundry, showers and lots of toys and play time for the kids.  We even had a pizza movie night which everyone enjoys (especially the adults).

This is everyone. Susanne, Dan, Martin, Maeve and Uncle Nate on the left.  Us on the right.
We also have been fortunate to catch excellent weather for hiking in Acadia National Park.

Now we are blasting south, hence the title of this post.  We are in Belfast, ME enjoying their cool library.  But, seems like more than just the library is "cool" a last night was a balmy 38 degrees F and tonight is an expected 41 degrees.  Brrrr!  We have the heater out and are going south.

Bar Harbor, Maine

We made it to our northernmost destination.  It has been a while since our previous post mostly because I wanted to download a lot of the pictures.  A good internet connection is essential for that so here we are at the library in Somes Sound.  The library is closed so we are all outside enjoying the cool weather.

From Rockland my friend Julie came to visit again, this time by herself.  We were able to show her what life is like on the boat.  Lots of work and then lots of relaxation.  Most days we have a good balance of both.

Maine has good hiking trails and the kids surprised us by climbing over 1.5 miles on a strenuous trail then asked for more.  Wow!  Who would have thought.

It is time for us to head south from here.  After a few days of visiting Bar Harbor we will work our way South.  Last night is was a balmy 40 degrees.  Brrr!  Good thing we have our 30 degree sleeping bags, especially the kids.

Visiting Castine, ME
Perfect timing for their museum's wood worker to make Sam and Nick wooden spinning tops.

Also at the museum a blacksmith that made us two hooks.

Surrounded by fog.  A fairly common occurrence up North.

New Junior Rangers for Acadia National Park and Mount Desert Island (MDI).

One of our troopers on our strenuous hike.

Lunch on the summit of Isle Au Haut.

Hot stone massage for Mamma after the hike.

Buckle Island and the door to the trail of fairy houses.

Those fairies live in small houses.

Happy Birthday!

Still has those eye lashes.

Beauty Queen.

Lobster again 5 for $20.00.  Thank you Julie!
